On 27 August 2016, Charlotte confronted her ex-husband Steve after he bought their son Kai a present instead of paying child support. Later that day, Charlotte and Steve consoled Kai after he accidentally flew the drone that Steve had bought him into an air ambulance and caused a fatal crash outside Holby City Hospital's emergency department.
