Production[]

Having learnt from his tenure as executive producer of EastEnders that prospective viewers were often turned off by the lack of jumping-on points, Jon Sen decided to change the format of Casualty going into 2023. The decision was made to divide series 12 into "mini-arcs" of 12 episodes — with the first to begin airing in January ― and to move away from the guess-the-accident narrative format that Sen felt the show was "very famous for" and made it "too predictable" and inauthentic. With the latter, the series would now focus much more on the patients and how their lives would unfold once they were in the hospital.[1]

Promotion[]

On 18 July, a video depicting Donna Jackson standing on a road was posted on the show's social media accounts promoting a release later in the day.[2] A trailer for the Driving Force miniseries was released at 7pm.[3]
