The fifth episode of series 32 is the 1053rd episode of Casualty overall. The episode was directed by Paul Riordan and written by Kayleigh Llewellyn. This episode marks the return of Sam Nicholls, portrayed by Charlotte Salt, who made her last appearance on the show in December 2013. This episode takes place a week before its airdate on 16 September.
Synopsis
Sam Nicholls returns to Holby as a paramedic. On a shout, she and Iain discover a crashed car with a man named Chris being held inside the boot. When part of the crash barrier tears his femoral artery, Sam is forced to perform a procedure that she is no longer qualified to do. When they arrive at the ED, Connie asks Josh to keep the pair on-site.
In the ED, Sam learns from the driver, journalist Becky Penton, that Chris has been stalking her online. Later, Becky confronts Chris in resus but he begins to haemorrhage after Sam's make-shift clamp fails. Sam is grateful when her ex-husband Dylan takes responsibility for the error.
