The fifth episode of series 32 is the 1053rd episode of Casualty overall. The episode was directed by Paul Riordan and written by Kayleigh Llewellyn. Synopsis

Sam Nicholls returns to Holby as a paramedic. On a shout, she and Iain discover a crashed car with a man named Chris being held inside the boot. When part of the crash barrier tears his femoral artery, Sam is forced to perform a procedure that she is no longer qualified to do. When they arrive at the ED, Connie asks Josh to keep the pair on-site.

In the ED, Sam learns from the driver, journalist Becky Penton, that Chris has been stalking her online. Later, Becky confronts Chris in resus but he begins to haemorrhage after Sam's make-shift clamp fails. Sam is grateful when her ex-husband Dylan takes responsibility for the error. At the end of the day, Sam decides to remain in Holby.

Meanwhile, Elle treats Iona, an elderly woman who has consumed edibles with her girlfriend Margie. Later, Margie tells Elle that she has been planning to propose to Iona for weeks. Unfortunately, Iona crashes and the team's attempts at resuscitating her fail, devastating Margie. However, miraculously, as her time of death is being confirmed, Alicia and Jacob are shocked to find a pulse. In ITU, Margie proposes to Iona and is delighted when she accepts. Later, Elle decides to set up an online dating profile.

During the day, Charlie notices that Connie feeling fatigued in resus. Later during the day, she secretly checks her blood pressure.

Trivia

  • During production, this episode's title was "Blues and Twos". However, when the decision was made not to have episode titles for the series, this name was scrapped.
