Synopsis[]

Dylan goes to Ciara's house and leaves her a voice message when she doesn't answer the door; unbeknownst to him, she is at a pub. Later, as she leaves, she collapses. The following day, at an AA meeting, Ciara is nowhere to be seen, which concerns Dylan. At the ED, David treats her after she is taken in, and doesn't inform Dylan of her presence. She soon finds him, and David tells him that he believes that she has been drinking. When Dylan asks her where she was the previous night, she becomes frustrated and leaves for The Hope & Anchor.

Later that day, her blood results show no traces of alcohol, prompting Dylan and David to go looking for her. They soon find her unresponsive in the pub and take her into the department. However, she soon discharges herself and leaves Dylan a farewell note. David tells him that it is for the best, but Dylan lashes out at him and publicly makes a comment about his bipolar disorder. He goes to Ciara's house to try to make amendments, but he is saddened when he is greeted by her husband Joel.

At the ambulance station, Iain returns to work, following his suspension. He is called to a car park to treat a homeless man who has taken an overdose and is shocked to discover that it is Base. He tries to offer him help, but Base tells him that he is a lost cause. Later, he asks drug dealer Ross for another fix, but he threatens him for not paying him. Iain soon returns with basic supplies, but Base tells him that he needs £200. Iain says no, and Base tells him to get lost.

Afterwards, Base is surrounded by Ross and his men and is badly beaten. He calls Iain who rushes to his aid. Once Base is cleaned up, Iain gives him the money, and they both go to confront Ross. Base asserts that he doesn't need the drugs anymore, but Ross begs to differ. He agrees to leave him alone, and Base accepts Iain's help.

Meanwhile, after sharing a kiss the night before, Alicia tells Ethan that she is not ready for another relationship. When she mentions that she hasn't slept in her own bedroom since her night with Eddie, Ethan decides to help her by repainting it.
