Ian Bunce is a man who resides in Holby.

Biography

At some point, Ian married Lauren Riggs, and she gave birth to a boy named Rhys in late 2006. However, she began smoking cannabis and experiencing violent psychotic episodes. In August 2007, Lauren attacked Ian, giving him a black eye. Shortly after this, she was sectioned at the Riverbank Psychiatric Unit.

On 15 September 2007, Lauren escaped from the psych unit and climbed through Rhy's window to take him. She ran to a nearby construction site and confronted him. She grabbed a large metal pole and struck him with it when he attempted to wrestle it out of her hands. He attempted to get up, but she kicked him to the ground, causing him to fall unconscious. Once he woke up, he tried to call his mother Maureen, but he struggled to speak as a result of his head injury. She called for an ambulance, and Ian was taken to Holby City Hospital's emergency department for treatment.

In resus, Ian's condition began to rapidly deteriorate. Consultant Adam Trueman examined him and discovered a sternoclavicular dislocation. With the assistance of registrar Maggie Coldwell, Adam used a towel grip to reduce Ian's clavicle, and his blood flow began to improve. However, as Ian regained consciousness, he was devastated to hear the medical staff pronounce Maureen, who had been sustained a severe head injury whilst trying to retrieve Rhys, dead.
