In April2024, Nicole started working in the Holby City Hospital's emergency department as an ST1. On her first day of work, she was late, but stopped in the car park when she found an abandoned baby on a bench outside the hospital. She arrived with the baby and assisted Stevie Nash and Ngozi Okoye in treating him. Later, Nicole treated a woman with minor injuries from a car accident, but suddenly started to feel unwell and vomited in front of the patient. In the staffroom, after Nicole mentioned that she was not drinking, Ngozi joked that people would think she was pregnant, causing Nicole to accidentally reveal that she was - but as a surrogate, and asked Ngozi not to tell anyone else, which she agreed to. (CAS: "Core Wounds")
